5. It is important for scientists to sort animals into groups. It just as important to sort plants. Scientists sort them by how they make another plant like themselves. This is called eproduction. Scientists have decided to sort plants into three groups. The first group of plants reproduces with spores. Spores are parts of the plant that break away and travel in the wind. Each one grows into a new plant if it lands on soil that is wet and rich. Ferns and mosses are plants that make a copy of themselves with spores. Other plants reproduce with seeds. They are the second group. Seeds fall from the trees. They become part of the soil and grow into new plants. Evergreens, pine trees, and fir trees are plants that reproduce with seeds. The third group is the plant that reproduces by flowering. Before seeds can form, the pollen inside the flower needs to move from one part of the flower to another. The seeds form inside the flower. Birds and insects help this by moving the pollen when they land on the flower. Some of the flowering plants grow into fruits to eat. The seeds are hidden inside the fruit. Apples, oranges, cherries, daisies, and roses are plants that have flowers. How do the plants that have spores reproduce?

6. Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated predominantly in North America, and it possesses a different meaning in each of the countries where it's acknowledged. In the United States, Thanksgiving is a federal holiday (meaning all government employees and most private employees are given a day off of work), and always takes places on the Fourth Thursday in November, regardless of the date. The holiday signifies the immense progress made by pilgrims, or some of the first travelers to North America, at Plymouth Plantation circa 1621. It was at this time that the hungry and weary Pilgrims were taught (by Native Americans) how to grow and produce food on North America's unique terrain. Once they'd grown (and caught) an abundance of food, the Pilgrims were expectedly thankful, and they celebrated alongside the Native Americans who provided them with such valuable assistance. President Abraham Lincoln initiated the contemporary practice of Thanksgiving by calling for a "day of Thanksgiving" during one of his Civil War addresses. In America today, Thanksgiving remains firmly engrained in its historical roots, and is widely considered to be a day for giving thanks for good food, good times, and family. Thanksgiving dinner generally consists of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, gravy, and ample desserts. To be sure, indulging in abundance is a cornerstone of the holiday, as doing so could only be possible if one possesses abundance. Which event(s) began the tradition of Thanksgiving?

14. Read the text and answer the questions according to it.
Reptiles have been around for millions of years and once were the most common vertebrate animals
on Earth. Today, reptiles are divided into four main groups: turtles and tortoises; lizards and snakes; crocodiles and alligators; and the tuatara. A tuatara looks like a lizard, but it isn’t. It’s a species left over from a group of reptiles as old as dinosaurs. It is the closest thing to a living dinosaur. Tuataras live only in New Zealand and are in danger of becoming extinct.
Some reptiles spend most of their time in water. But most species live on land. All have scaly skin to protect them. Reptiles are found in all habitats except polar ice in the Arctic and the tundra.
Reptiles usually lay their eggs in nests or holes dug in the ground. But some snakes, like rattlesnakes, let the eggs hatch inside the body and give birth to live babies. Female crocodiles are very good mothers. They guard the nest and even help the hatchlings get a start in life. Some snakes do this, too. But most reptiles lay their eggs and leave. The hatchlings, which are perfect miniature copies of their parents, are on their own.

According to the passage, all baby reptiles . . . .

They were played on a movie projector in a theater. Today, people can see movies almost anywhere. They can see movies on computers. Others watch movies on iPods®. Some even watch movies on their cell phones. The world of movies is changing very fast. Some filmmakers want to use digital photography for making movies. Digital photography is cheaper, takes fewer people and less space. It is easy to use and can be done in a small area. However, they do not turn out as clear as the original way of filming.
A man named Robert Rodriguez says that digital form is the new way to make movies. He says it is the way to keep movie theaters alive. He does not want them to become extinct.
Robert writes movies and shoots them. He directs them and puts them together. He even does the special effects. Robert does them all in digital format. He does this in his own home in Texas. He can make most movies for half of the money it would usually cost.
Rodriquez wants to make movies that can only be seen in theaters. His idea is to make movies, for less money, only to be shown in theaters. He feels this will help preserve the original way to watch a movie.

16. Read the passage below and answer the questions  Frieda the Fox was one of the young foxes learning how to hunt. She would practice her skills every day.
She wanted to be one of the best, but she still had a lot to learn. Her dad took her out one day, and Frieda found a mouse to chase. She chased the mouse and almost caught it, until she saw a rabbit hop by. She stopped chasing the mouse and began chasing the rabbit. “Silly Frieda. Why did you do that?” asked her dad. “Dad! A rabbit would have been a bigger and better catch.” Her dad just shook his head. The next day they went hunting again. Frieda did the same thing except this time she stopped chasing a rabbit to chase a chicken. She came home with neither. When they got back, all of Frieda’s brothers and sisters had a catch. Frieda sat by herself in the back and pouted. She almost had the chicken and the rabbit, but instead she came home with neither. The next day, Frieda went hunting alone.
This time she decided that she would catch whatever animal she saw first. There would be no switching gears to go after another animal. It wasn’t long before she saw a hen strutting by. She decided this was it. She raced after the hen and made her pounce. It worked! She got the hen. She proudly walked home to show her dad. He was thrilled, telling Frieda, “Yeah! You finally got it!”

19. Read the text and answer the questions according to it

Pepperoni is often put on a pizza. It is actually a type of cured sausage made from beef. "Cured" means salty to protect against bacteria which are dangerous for people. Sometimes cured sausages are made of turkey or chicken to reduce both fat and calories. Pepperoni is mixed with red pepper or other spices and takes a reddish colour. It is typically cut in small, thin circles. The word "pepperoni" means "big peppers" in Italian, though pepperoni has nothing to do with Italy. Its actual origin is not known yet. However, it is believed to be invented in America, likely in one of the original pizzerias in New York City. What is clear however, is that pepperoni is America’s favourite pizza topping.

According to the passage, what is not known about pepperoni?

Many people like to eat pizza, but not everyone knows how to make it. Making the perfect pizza can be complicated, but there are lots of ways to make a more basic version at home.
When you make pizza, you must begin with the crust. If you want to make the crust yourself, you will have to make dough using flour, and water. Then make the dough with your hands.
If you do not have enough time to do this, you can use a prepared crust that you buy from the store. Then you must add the sauce. Making your own sauce can take a long time and is a bit difficult.
You have to buy tomatoes, peel them, and then cook them with spices at home. Or you can also purchase a jar of sauce from the store.
Now that you have your crust and your sauce, you need to add the cheese and then you can add different toppings. Some people like to put meat on their pizza, while other people like to add vegetables. Some people even like to add pineapple!

Which of the following statements describes making a sauce for pizza?
